Direct Digital Control (DDC) is a computerized program that can monitor and control all of the different HVAC units in a commercial building providing a complete energy management system. This program makes it possible to view each unit on a computer monitor and see how it is performing at any given time. If the unit experiences a problem, such as overheating or short circuiting, it has the capability of paging a service technician directly. DDC monitors the building and determines when to send heat and when to start the fans. DDC systems can also control lighting, alarms, and fire detection equipment. It’s a terrific way to increase energy savings with complete building automation.
